Peter's Deli has counter service offering sandwiches, salads and a number of daily specials. Pete's is freakin awesome! The owner (I'm assuming Peter) hand crafts each sandwich on the list as described or to your specification, and also has a great list of specials each day. It's incredible watching the care and attention that he puts into each sandwich. Pete's is clean, quick, reasonably priced, and most importantly DELICIOUS while not being anything fancy. There's also a lot of healthy (and unhealthy) options to choose from, and the small dining area is kinda cool too. Prices range from $5.00 to $10.00. A great place to visit for lunch.

Just off the Financial District, a quaint corner restaurant featuring a handsome central bar and mahogany booths. Updated retro all the way. A veritable Financial District institution, this place has Sam's-style sandwiches, served in a table-service environment. There is a private room available for functions. Menu is primarily deli sandwich combinations and burgers. Full bar.

Susan's Deli of course features the best selection of sandwiches, wraps and soups under the sun. They have everything you can think of from hummus on a wrap to pastrami on Rye. Service at this busy downtown location can be rushed and you might feel as if you're being overlooked as a customer with specific needs. Prices are reasonable for the area with few sandwiches or meals topping the $10 mark. Open for breakfast as well- they serve up coffee and bagels for the masses.

Max's is great! It's a New York style deli with great food and friendly people. Even though Michael is very grouchy looking he's a businessman getting the job done. The Osso Bucco (veal stew and mashed potato) is my favorite when I'm really hungry.

I would like to give a little history about O! Deli. It is a little family owned shop that use to be at 200 High Street. It was the best place around to get a sandwich with daily specials like Monday you could get a meatball sub, or Thursday you could get a chicken parm. (my favorite). The husband and wife worked there side by side with the help of another woman and on school break you would see the kids there too. A while back another small lunch place opened at 190 High St. called Just Lunch. This guy used to drive down every day from ME. He sold pizza, calzones and subs for 5.75 with a soda and chips. Then came the evil corporation, Panera. O! Deli's landlord didn't resign with them or was charging too much. So Panera got the corner location and O! Deli was with out a home. At some point the Just lunch guy and O! Deli family got together and O! Deli took over the Just Lunch space and some of the menu items. This was a disaster at the beginning. Needless to say, it has improved a lot since it's rocky "O! Lunch" rebirth. Now it's hit its stride and is as awesome as it was before. Also, the staff is super warm and friendly. They always have a smile and their customer service is second-to-none.

Sam & Anne is a relative bargain for a financial district lunch. The menu is a bit odd, which its main appeal; the "Meat Loves" [sic] is French bread, roast beef, Thousand Island dressing, and slaw. I'm not sure how this particular Jewish / French / Asian (?) fusion resulted, but is certainly a refreshing break from yet another Chicken Salad. Most of the subs aren't that great, but the calzones are to die for. This place used to be called Jessica's Deli. New name, same menu, same staff.

A unique twist on traditional panini, sandwiches heated in a press. Indulge in the Nutella-and-chocolate breakfast panini on the way to the office and I guarantee you will have a much better day at work because of it! Try the Steak Cuban for lunch - citrus marinated steak, swiss cheese, black bean salsa, mojo, pickles, carmalized onions, on ciabatta. Now serving wine and beer. Cosi's make-your-own sandwiches come in one, two, or three toppings, and although they are delicious, they don't come cheap. Kids will love the bread, which is baked in a wood-burning oven before your eyes. It's almost always warm and delicious. Toppings such as curry chicken, smoked salmon, and caramelized onion are in abundance, but standard fare is available, too. For dessert, try the ultimate "sandwich": marshmellows, Hershey bars, and graham crackers, served with a mini crackling fire and an iron pot for melting .
